Getting Here & Tips
Bienvenidos a Su Casa!Getting Here By Bus You can reach us very economically by public transportation. Take a taxi to Albrook terminal (The big bus terminal in central Panama). Take the bus to Colon. Hourly/ $3.00 This is a big comfy Greyhound style bus with adequate space for your luggage. I recommend that you not leave the terminal in Colon. It is not located in a tourist area, and pick pockets have been reported. There are food vendors and a dirty bathroom. Enter the terminal and look for the brightly painted bus with a small sign in the window “LA GUIRA” People are friendly and are happy to help you find it. A small tip is appropriate if they carry your luggage. The local bus driver will let you put large suitcases in the back. Get on the bus to secure your seat.Buses leave Colon at 11am, 130pm, 330pm, and 530pm approximately. $3.00 Plan to leave Panama city no later than 1 pm. If you are coming by bus, I would not recommend more than 1 suitcase per person. Ask the bus driver to let you off at Hostal Wunderbar, we are right next door. The house is burgundy with a wood gate. If you are traveling light and don’t mind standing for 30 minutes, you can get off in Sabanitas and skip Colon, but the bus is nearly always full to overflowing by the time it gets there. Going into Colon takes longer but assures you as seat and secure placement of your luggage. By Car Take the autopista toll road (Corredor Norte) towards Colon. Exit at Sabanitas (towards Colon). Follow the road about 2 km then a Supermercado Rey (Last big supermarket). Turn right towards Portobelo. Follow sign to Portobello, making a right at the church a few miles from the supemercado Rey. You will pass the villages of Maria Chihcita, Playa Langosta, then the town of Portobelo where ruins of Spanish forts are evident. 10 miles past Portobelo is the village of Puerto Lindo. Follow signs to La Guiara/Isla Grande. Puerto Lindo is just after the crossroads for Cacique. We are the last house on the left before the gas bombera (If you see Delta Gas sign or the sign for Puerto Lindo, turn around. The house is burgundy, with a wood gate. By Taxi A taxi to Puerto Lindo from Panama City will probably cost you around $100-$150. It is 1 hour and 45 minutes in non peak traffic. Personal Pick-Up If we can plan a shopping trip around your arrival and you bring only 1 suitcase each, we sometimes can pick you up at the airport or your hotel for $50.We can nearly always pick you up at the Rey Supermarket if you want to take the comfy bus and avoid Colon and the local “Diablo Rojo) bus ride. Buy a $3.00 telechip, or Claro phone card in any super or mini super and call us to arrange a pick up time. $30 Rent A Car (about $45/day with insurance)- Call or email for info if you plan this |
