Panama Travel Tips

Be sure to pack the following:

Sunscreen

Protective water shoes or dive booties- TEVA type shoes are great, not flip flops

Snorkel gear (can be rented in Panama city by the week from various dive shops)

Hat or visor

Dive skin, rash guard or old tee shirt if you plan to dive or snorkel

Binoculars for bird watching-we have field guides for birding and tropical fish for your use

Day pack or mesh bag

Comfortable walking shoes

Insect repellent if bugs bother you

A small tube of antibiotic ointment-even small scrapes can get infected easily in the tropics

FYI

There are lots of ATM machines in larger urban areas, but once you leave Sabanitas, there are none. Most businesses accept only cash. Portobelo has an ATM but it seldom works. We accept credit card payments via paypal invoice at Annie’s place, but do not dispense cash. Please be prepared, It’s 30 miles to an ATM from Puerto Lindo.

We always carry a large dry box in the boat where you are welcome to place your phone, binoculars or camera

I highly recommend reading the guidebook Lonely Planet Panama before your trip. Most libraries have it, and it’s available on line.
